Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - After months of "almost finished" rumblings, Coldplay's long-awaited fourth studio album will finally be released June 17.
The band has also posted the 10-song track list for "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends" on their website.
The album is named after a painting by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who famously endured polio, a broken spine and chronic pain throughout her life.
"She went through a lot of shit, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said 'Viva la Vida (Long Live Life),'" Martin told Rolling Stone. "I just loved the boldness of it.
"Everyone thinks it comes from Ricky Martin, which is fine. I have absolute respect."
The album, which was recorded in London, England, Barcelona, Spain and New York City, was co-produced by Coldplay alongside Brian Eno (U2, Talking Heads) and Markus Dravs (Joseph Arthur).
The band revealed on their website last October that working with Eno had resulted in a more experimental sound.
"It feels like a very dense record," the post read. "There are so many melodies and colours packed into a relatively short space (42 min.)."
Fans won't have to wait long after the album's release to see the band in action. The British foursome are scheduled to play the first-ever Pemberton Festival in Pemberton, British Columbia on July 27.
