(andPOP) - Americans could soon be watching movies in another way from rental movie giant Blockbuster.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Blockbuster is looking at developing online screening - similar to the iTunes model where there is a charge per download of a film. However, instead of downloading to a computer, the user will be able to download the film straight to their television.

The service would be partnered with Movielink, that has 6,000 titles in its online library. Blockbuster now owns Movielink.

Blockbuster is expected to delve more about the new service next month.
