(andPOP) - Derek Hough, a professional dancer on the hit show, Dancing With the Stars, injured himself in a performance on Tuesday night.

As per doctors orders, Hough is now wearing a neck brace, people.com reports.

The injury occurred not while Hough was dancing with his celebrity partner, Shannon Elizabeth, but rather while he danced with a fellow professional during a rehersal for a live performance by Kylie Minogue.

"I'm in a lot of pain. We were in rehearsals today, I was dancing, and there's this move where I whack my head back, and I just felt it go 'pop.' … It was 'snap, crackle, pop', like a box of cereal," he said after the show.

Hough doesn't know what this means for the future of his competition.

"It's going to be an interesting week, we don't know what's going to happen. It may be a Dancing with the Stars first, Shannon may have to dance with somebody else next week. I might have somebody else come in for practice, and I might just have to direct it."
