Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - You may remember their single, "Do It To It," spicing up your summer in 2006, but this year Cherish is taking it up a step.
Their new single, "Killa," was just featured in the audition scene of the film "Step Up 2: The Streets."
"I thought it was dope," Felisha told andPOP of the film. "We were amazed and honoured to be a part of [the movie]."
"Step Up 2" is helping to build the band's momentum. "'Killa' is definitely moving up the charts a little quicker," according to Felisha. But with their album "The Truth" out on April 29, that's not all the girls have up their very fashionable sleeves.
"We're going everywhere," said an excited Felisha. Her fervour is understandable: in June, the girls will be filming a "typical high school movie" called "Caramel" with Chris Brown.
"We've wanted to act as long as we've wanted to sing," Felisha gushed. And that's not all: they'll be shooting some commercials, and Neosha plans to dabble in modelling.
However, their first priority is always their music.
"The Truth" was a therapeutic experience for the band, with most of the tracks being somewhat - if not entirely - autobiographical.
"We've been through a lot of different experiences over the last few years,"' Felisha said. "We wrote every song but two on the album, and every one is actually about an aspect of our lives. That's why we called it 'The Truth.'"
One trial the girls dealt with recently was having two of their new songs leaked on the internet, but they got through it unscathed. "It just caused a lot of confusion," Felisha said. "People are like, 'Is this the single, is that the single?' You gotta clear stuff up. But with 'Killa' out, everything's going the way it's supposed to now."
Though word is the album will have much more of an R&B sound, moving away from their pop past, the girls swear their music is still what their fans have come to expect.
"Our style is a mixture of pop and R&B. I wouldn't say our sound has changed, but it's become a lot more mature," Felisha said.
"A Cherish performance," she added, "is a Cherish performance."
