Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Nintendo Canada announced that it will be hosting a nation wide tournament for its highly anticipated blockbuster title Super Smash Brothers Brawl in select EB games stores three weeks after the game's release.
"The launch of Super Smash Bros. Brawl on Wii is a huge event," said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada's vice president and general manager. "We are excited to be partnering with EB Games and providing an opportunity for Canadian gamers to showcase their 'Smash' skills".
The qualifying rounds and semi-final rounds will be held in various EB games stores across Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax with the finalists being flown to the finals taking place in Toronto on May 30th courtesy of Nintendo Canada.
"Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Wii have great appeal with our core consumer," said Jim Tyo, president of EB Games Canada. "This tournament is a way for our Smash Bros. fans to do what they do best. We look forward to working with Nintendo on this project and seeing who will be crowned as the champion."
The grand prize is a trip for two to the Nintendo World store in New York City and $500 in spending money with semi finalists receiving Super Smash Brother prizing. For more information, check out www.nintendo.ca/brawl.
