(andPOP) - Death Cab For Cutie have revealed details for their upcoming and hugely anticipated album "Narrow Stairs."

The album, the follow-up to 2005's Grammy-nominated "Plans," will be released May 13, preceded by the single "I Will Possess Your Heart."

"I hope this album is a bit of a surprise for those out there that think they have us all figured out," said bassist Nick Harmer. "We can’t wait to share these songs with the world."

"Narrow Plans" was produced by the band's own guitarist-keyboardist Chris Walla, who has had a hand in producing and/or engineering albums by artists including the Decemberists and Canadians Tegan and Sara and Hot Hot Heat.

Walla also released a solo debut, "Field Manual," on Jan. 29.

In anticipation of the new album, Death Cab will play their first live shows in more than 18 months when they head out on a handful of western U.S. tour dates, kicking things off April 18th in their home state of Washington.

The band will also play a couple of festivals, Coachella in Indio, California on April 26th and Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee on June 15th.
