Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - When Heath Ledger unexpectedly passed away last month, the fate of his final and uncompleted project, Terry Gilliam's "The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus," was uncertain.
Now it looks like the film may go ahead after all, with Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all carrying on Ledger's role.
Aintitcoolnews.com reports that the actors will play the character at different points in the film -- a re-imagining of the Faust tale -- with the change in appearance explained by the film's fantasy elements.
The character, a man trying to save the daughter of a traveling showman who sold her to the Devil, reportedly undertakes a journey in which he enters several magical mirrors. Now, each time he enters a mirror, he will exit as a different actor.
Also starring in the film are Christopher Plummer as Dr. Parnassus, the 1000-year-old traveling showman, and Tom Waits as the Devil.
The studio has yet to release any official word on cast additions, but Plummer told People last month that director Gilliam wanted to finish the movie.
"Terry was a very good friend [of Heath's]," Plummer said. "He very much [wanted] to go on with the movie, and I can very much understand why -- because he wants to dedicate it to Heath, of course."
