Daniel Radcliffe, star of the wildly successful movie series about the boy wizard, will star as news photographer Dan Eldon in a new war drama called "Journey."
The movie will be based on the diaries of Eldon, who was stoned to death in Mogadishu along with four other journalists in 1993, during Somalia's volatile civil war.
The photographer was just 22 at the time.
Radcliffe beat out more experienced actors like Heath Ledger, Joaquin Phoenix, Ryan Phillippe and Orlando Bloom for the role.
"We resisted a lot of older actors because Dan was a boy emerging into manhood," said Eldon's mother Kathy. "[Radcliffe] has a sense of humour and energy inside him which reminds me of Dan."
Eldon's diaries, "The Journey Is the Destination," were previously published in 1997.
