Dempsey Is People's Star Of The Year

(andPOP) - Patrick Dempsey is finally getting some love from People magazine.

After coming in second three years running in the publication's infamous annual 'Sexiest Man Alive' list, the actor has beat out the best in Hollywood for the title of 'Star of the Year'.

Grey's Anatomy fans everywhere know him as Dr. McDreamy but this year, the 41-year-old actor made big waves on the big screen by starring in the current box-office hit Enchanted.

But the father of three doesn't appear to be letting his star power or heartthrob status get to his head.

"I'm just enjoying life more than I ever have ... I'm trying to enjoy the moment while it's here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this," Dempsey says in the issue, CBC.ca reports.

People gives nods to eight other stars who made a mark in the entertainment world this year. Featured entertainers are Dempsey's co-stars Katherine Heigl and Amy Adams, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Carrie Underwood, Will Smith, Christina Applegate and Ben Affleck.
