(andPOP) - Actress Kim Cattrall, known best for her role as Sam in the HBO hit television show, and soon to be feature length film, "Sex and The City" has joined the likes of Pamela Anderson, Bill Maher, and others in the fight against animal cruelty.

Cattrall has been receiving a lot of press recently as she outed herself as a PETA supporter. According to a report made by PETA representative Michael McGraw, Cattrall has agreed to hand over the four fur coats that her character will wear in the "Sex and The City" movie after the filming wraps. In the film, PETA supporters take part in the common PETA practice, invented by PETA creator Ingrid Newkirk, of dumping red paint on fur.

Typically, furs that are donated to PETA are given to the homeless, used in protests and exhibited in anti-fur campaigns and events. According to McGraw, if the jacket already exists, then it should at least be used for warmth and not fashion.

"The only people who can be excused for wearing fur are the homeless ? to keep warm during the winter," he stated in his report.

At present, around 15,000 furs have been kindly donated to PETA over the course of 15 years. According to E! News, PETA cleans the fur and removes the red paint before passing the coats on to needy people who will then wear the furs to keep warm.
