Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Only days after performing along side fellow rapper Too Short at The House of Blues in Los Angeles, Pimp C, otherwise known as Chad Butler, was found dead in his hotel room in West Hollywood.
At approximately 9:30 a.m., a call was placed to 911 by the staff at the Mondrian Hotel, on Sunset Boulevard. Once officials and paramedics arrived, they were promptly directed to Butler's room on the sixth floor. There they discovered Butler lying dead, fully clothed, on the ground.
In a statement made by the county coroner, the rapper's death was due to natural causes. There were no traces of alcohol, illegal substances or drug paraphernalia discovered in the room during the investigation, and according to reports by officials, the rapper had been in the suite alone.
A statement was released by Jive Records President and CEO Barry Weiss, acknowledging the tragedy.
"He will be missed, and our prayers remain with his family and Bun B. I've known Chad since he was 18 and we loved him dearly, and he was a cherished member of the Jive family," Weiss stated.
A full autopsy has yet to be performed, and standard toxicology test results will reportedly be ready in 6 to 8 weeks.
Bun B, UGK's other half, has yet to comment on the tragedy.
Pimp C was 34 years old.
