Pitt has pulled out of the Universal Studios picture State of Play due to script concerns, according to Variety and the Hollywood Reporter.
Pitt was supposed to play a politician-turned-journalist who spearheads a newspaper’s investigation of a murder in the film that was set to star, along with Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn.
The Matthew Michael Carnahan-written adaptation of a British miniseries is reported to have some kinks in the script that Pitt wasn’t pleased with but they cannot be worked out due to the ongoing writer’s strike.
Variety reports that Universal Pictures is currently trying to recast Brad’s role but if the character isn’t filled by November 29, Pitt could face a lawsuit for bailing on the film so close to production.
