Scapin is from Newmarket, Ont. and is now the proud beneficiary of a $150,000 scholarship that will go towards studying at any top theatrical training school of his choice in the world. Selected by a panel of reputable judges, including Garth Drabinsky, Scapin is well deserving of the opportunity.
"From the first audition, he completely wowed all of us with a musical number, He Loves Me," Drabinsky, who is also the show's producer, told CBC.
Scapin was not only talented, but consistently so. Judges were impressed by his ability to impress them nearly every time he took the stage, and the finale was no different. On Sunday night's final show, Scapin took both the judges' and viewers' breath away with his rendition of Gershwin's "Nice Work if You Can Get It" as well as two perfectly executed dramatic performances.
Where will Scapin go from here? Drabinsky suspects Julliard.
