Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - 19-year old Skye Sweetnam is back! After almost vanishing off the scene immediately following her 2004 Juno nod, the singer has returned with a new album entitled "Sound Soldier".
Sweetnam worked with producers The Matrix Team in putting together her 12 track record. She is among a number of other young female artists who have worked with the producers, like Hilary Duff, Avril Lavigne and Shakira.
"It's no secret that The Matrix are hit-makers, and I was worried that I might come out sounding like one of the many pop/rock dolls that I had been compared to in interviews for the last three years," Chartattack quoted Sweetnam on working with the producers. According to Sweetnam, however, the team wanted to explore a new element of music as well, so as a result the product of their collaboration is unlike anything before, which is exactly what Sweetnam wanted.
Sweetnam has kicked off her series of School Rocks shows, a tour that visits schools around Ontario. "Sound Soldier" will be released Oct. 30.
