Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Lily Allen is set to appear in a big-screen spoof of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice.
The sassy British singer will play Lydia Bennett in Jane Austen Handheld, with British TV/radio personality Russell Brand as her suitor George Wickam. Stars Wars’ Carrie Fisher and British actor Stephen Fry will also star in the movie.
The low-budget film begins shooting next spring.
Allen’s foray into the mainstream film world may not be a big stretch for her. Her mother is film producer Alison Owen, who was Oscar-nominated for Elizabeth, and her father is actor Keith Allen, who has appeared in movies like Shallow Grave and The Others.
In other news, Allen is scheduled to perform at Fashion Rocks at London's Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 18. The event will be hosted by Uma Thurman and Samuel L. Jackson.
