Add the andPOP Facebook Application(andPOP) - Anna Faris, the doe-eyed comedian who cracked up adoring audiences in the Scary Movie installations, isn't smiling these days as she just made the announcement that her Sundance baby, "Smiley Face," will be going "straight to DVD."
Most people in the film industry dread those three small words because they typically are synonymous with a big thumbs down from critics and a pretty low success rate. With blast-off comedies like "Knocked Up" and "Super Bad" roping in rather impressive figures the summer in the box office, Faris's movie was suspected to do just the same.
Faris, as well as her fans, are understandably disappointed. An MTV News journalist wrote to readers that "Smiley Face remains one of the funniest films we've seen in 2007, and it deserves better."
"Smiley Face" is due on the shelves in just a few months.
