9. Logan Lucky (August 18)
Starring Channing Tatum and Adam Driver as brothers who plot an elaborate robbery during the Coca-Cola 600, this movie sees Ocean’s series director Steven Soderbergh return to the heist comedy genre in what should be one of the summer’s funniest films.
8. The Snowman (October 13)
Based on the novel by Jo Nesbø, this crime drama stars Michael Fassbender as a detective investigating the disappearance of a woman whose scarf is found wrapped around an ominous-looking snowman. Sounds eerie, right? With supporting performances from Rebecca Ferguson, Chloe Sevigny, and J.K. Simmons, this Tomas Alfredson-directed mystery is sure to be intriguing.
7. Snatched (May 12)
Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer star as a mother and daughter who get kidnapped while on vacation, this action comedy is Hawn’s first film appearance since 2002; that alone makes it one of spring’s must-see films.
6. It (September 8)
A group of outcast children discover and fight an ancient, shape-shifting monster. Sounds simple enough, but this adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel takes the cake as our guess for the scariest movie of 2017.
5. Blade Runner 2049 (October 6)
There were questions about the wisdom of doing a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1982 cult classic, but with Harrison Ford returning, Ryan Gosling starring, and Denis Villeneuve directing, we’re sure this movie is in good hands.
4. Pitch Perfect 3 (December 22)
The girls are back in our favourite musical franchise, be sure to get out and see this one because this might be your last chance to see the whole cast together.
3. Wonder Woman (June 2)
After first playing the titular character in Batman v. Superman, Gal Gadot is reprising her role for the first in what looks like a long line of blockbusters.
2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (May 5)
Expectations are high after the smash hit that was GOTG 1, but with James Gunn returning to write and direct and the original cast reprising their roles we are looking forward to another home run.
1. Star Wars: The Last Jedi (December)
It’s hard to go with anything but this one. Whether you’re a fan or not, it’s hard to deny that the latest Star Wars installment is the year’s most anticipated film.
