Dylan Authors (Falling Skies) stars as Kit in Weirdos. The coming of age road trip film comes to film from Canadian legends director Bruce McDonald and writer Daniel MacIvor. Set in 1976 the film follows 15 year old Kit as he hitchhikes across Nova Scotia with his girlfriend Alice (Julia Sarah Stone) in order to secretly relocate from his father’s small town home to his mother’s artistic commune in the city. Loosely based on MacIvor’s own adventures growing up on the East Coast of Canada Kit and Alice learn a great deal about themselves, their sexuality and their place in this world during their weekend getaway.
Dylan, a Toronto native, spoke to us ahead of the film’s TIFF2016 debut about what being a weirdo means to him and the challenges of shooting an indie film in Nova Scotia in just a few weeks.
