10. Planes, Trains & Automobiles
This classic John Hughes road movie is due for a reboot, why not go for some girl power? Let’s see if Meryl Streep can make it across the country with Melissa McCarthy riding shotgun.
9. The Hangover
Let’s see if Jenifer Lawrence, Anna Kendrick and Amy Schumer can find Dakota Fanning in the desert.
8. Men in Black
Viola Davis recruits Rooney Mara to police Aliens on Earth. What’s not to like? Note: Rip Torn gets to stay on as Agent Z.
7. 12 Angry Men
Any reboot will have a tough time living up to Sydney Lumet’s 1957 classic adaptation of this teleplay, but something tells us Meryl Streep would be up to the job of playing Henry Fonda’s Juror #8.
6. Friday Night Lights
Maybe we would prefer a reboot of the TV show, the best teen drama of the 2000’s (not named The O.C.), but any time Peter Berg (creator of the show, director of the movie) wants to do another expose of the sports-obsessed American heartland, we won’t complain. Maybe volleyball for this version?
5. Reservoir Dogs
Okay so this one would be pretty violent, but something tells me Rosamund Pike is up for cutting off Emily Blunt’s ear.
4. Stand by Me
The 80’s classic, based on Stephen King’s short story, The Body, it tells the story of a group of children who go on a trek to find the dead body of a missing boy. A haunting coming-of-age story, Stand by Me is ripe for a reboot starring some up-and-coming young actors – Stranger Things’ Millie Bobby Brown would fit the lead, Gordie, for starters.
3. The Usual Suspects
Could Robin Wright fill her House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey’s shoes in a reboot of this crime classic?
Starring the cast of Orange is the New Black.
1. James Bond
The possibilities are endless for who might play Jane Bond (Jessica Chastain circa Zero Dark Thirty gets our vote; most of Tumblr seems to want Gillian Anderson) – but regardless, here’s hoping we get Idris Elba as the first “Bond boy”.
