We here at ANDPOP want to help you be trendsetters, introducing you to brand new (or just underrated) music to tell your friends about — yes, that was a Weeknd reference. We want you to be that person who says “I knew him/her before everyone else” — a “music hipster” if you will. EVERY THURSDAY, our aim is to bless your ears with the music that you’ve never heard, but will never stop listening to. This week, we’re turning our attention to none other than Bebe Rexha.

Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, 27 year old Bebe Rexha has been topping music charts and taking over radio airwaves with her amazing vocal chops and stellar collaborations.

Bebe started writing songs and working with producers in her high school years to help make her dream a reality. Eventually, she saw her hard work pay-off after writing Rihanna and Eminem’s 2013 hit “The Monster,” the track that would begin her catapult in the music industry. Her songwriting career began to take flight as she went on to write Cash Cash’s “Take Me Home,”  Pitbull’s, “This Is Not A Drill”, and  Tinashe’s “All Hands On Deck.”

Fast forward to 2015, when Bebe made her debut as a singer / songwriter with the release of her first EP I Don’t Wanna Grow Up. The EP spat out hit singles like, “I Can’t Stop Drinking About You” and “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy” — both of which were instant hits for the songstress,  garnering over 52 million streams on Spotify within just 6 months of their release. She even c0-wrote Nicki Minaj, David Guetta and Afrojack’s hit “Hey Mamma” and leant her vocals to G-Eazy’s hit “Me, Myself, & I” the same year.

With 0ver 10 million single sales, 1 billion YouTube views and 800 million streams on Spotify, there’s no denying that Bebe Rexha has become one of the most successful pop / hip-hop artists in recent years. She’s toured with Nick Jonas, played 2015’s Vans Warped Tour, and was featured on Martin Garrix’s 2016 hit, “In The Name of Love.”  Armed with cool, kick-ass vibes and unique raspy vocal tones  — and her newest single “I Got You” in hand — it’s no wonder why Bebe has become such a fan favourite.
