We here at ANDPOP want to help you be trendsetters, introducing you to brand new (or just underrated) music to tell your friends about — yes, that was a Weeknd reference. We want you to be that person who says “I knew him/her before everyone else” — a “music hipster” if you will. EVERY THURSDAY, our aim is to bless your ears with the music that you’ve never heard, but will never stop listening to. This week, we’re turning our attention to Québec’s, Bobby Bazini.
Born in Mont-Laurier, Québec, Bobby Bazini has been creating beautiful music since 2010. Growing up in rural Québec, the Canadian Singer-songwriter was constantly surrounded by music while growing up, with his musical taste laying especially on country and names like Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and Ray Charles.
In 2009, the then 20 year old became a hit on both English and French radio stations with his single, “I Wonder.” Following its release, he then went on to digitally release his first 5-track EP which featured his second single, “One Thing or Two.” In 2010, Bobby finally released his independent debut album, Better In Time, and saw it gain massive success here in Canada, with the album becoming a Top Ten hit on the Canadian albums chart.
In 2013, after officially signing with Universal Music Canada, he began work on his sophomore album which had him travelling away from his Montreal home to record in California. Once there, he enlisted the help of producer Larry Klein and recorded in the legendary Village Recorder Studio, where his heroes Bob Dylan, Marvin Gaye and Johnny Cash all recorded in as well. Summer Is Gone eventually dropped earlier this year
There’s no denying that Bobby’s been garnering a whole new slew of adoring fans who are absolutely loving his positive and soulful sound which, in our opinion, has been underrated for far too long. We are sure this is just the beginning of what will surely be a long and amazing career for the Québec native.
