John Mayer has been making music for us for over a decade. After releasing his 2001 full-length debut Room for Squares, he quickly became a household name– with special thanks to his swoon-worthy hit single Your Body Is a Wonderland. With sensitive lyrics and beautiful acoustic melodies, the 39-year-old crooner has built an enviable career including six hit albums, 14 Grammy nominations and four wins.

John’s last album, Paradise Valley, was released back in 2013 — which makes us wonder how we’ve managed to go through these last three years without new music from one of our favourite singer-songwriters. When we’re not replaying those six albums, we’re watching him slay other artist’s songs with a unique flavour that only John Mayer can deliver.

These are our favourite 11 covers from John Mayer that will make you swoon.

XO (Beyonce)

Of course John could take this song and make it an acoustic gem.

Ain’t No Sunshine (Bill Withers)

That guitar work though…

American Pie (Don McLean)

Love hearing this song with a funky touch.

Free Fallin (Tom Petty)

Have we mentioned how much we love his voice??

Like A Rolling Stone (Bob Dylan)

JM and his electric guitar are a perfect match.

Dreams (Fleetwood Mac)

Judging by the cheers in the crowd, they’re loving this as much as we are.

Sideways (Citizen Cope)

He has a real knack for covering songs that aren’t mainstream and making them sound so unique.

No One (Alicia Keys)

We like to think Alicia would approve of this acoustic loveliness.

Don’t Let Me Down (The Beatles)

This is a duet we didn’t know we needed until this video happened.

Voodoo Child (Jimi Hendrix)

It’s all guitar and it’s all badass.
