We here at ANDPOP want to help you be trendsetters, introducing you to brand new (or just underrated) music to tell your friends about — yes, that was a Weeknd reference. We want you to be that person who says “I knew him/her before everyone else” — a “music hipster” if you will. EVERY THURSDAY, our aim is to bless your ears with the music that you’ve never heard, but will never stop listening to. This week, we’re focusing on Jordan Fisher.

Growing up in Birmingham, Alabama, Jordan Fisher first caught the entertainment bug when he hit the stage at Paine Intermediate School. By the time he reached fifth grade, he was cast in his first school production of School House Rock Jr, where he belted out “Conjuction Junction.” His teacher was so impressed, that she got him in touch with Birmingham’s Red Mountain Theatre Company, where he was discovered by a talent scout ready to sign him with Disney.

Once he was signed he was set to find his “big break” — which he eventually found on iCarly. By 2012 he received the role of Jacob on The Secret Life of the American Teenager and in 2015, made his debut on MTV’s Teen Wolf.

Although he’s obviously no “spring chicken” in the world of music and television, it wasn’t until he donned a super stylish quiff and glasses playing Doody on Grease Live! that really put him on the world’s radar.

After signing a deal with Hollywood Records, Jordan just released his self-titled EP, and is headed to the Broadway stage in the record breaking and groundbreaking hip-hop historical musical Hamilton.
