The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles — The Edge Of Seventeen. Soon, everyone will be adding the coming of age flick starring Hailee Steinfeld, Woody Harrelson, Blake Jenner (Glee), Haley Lu Richardson and more to the classic “Must Watch”, John Hughes centric list of “Growing Up” classics.
The film that premiered at Toronto International Film Festival follows Hailee as Nadine, an awkward teen trying to make her way through High School when the awkward factor jumps a few levels upon learning her best friend (Richardson) is dating her brother (Jenner). Throw in her could-be-more-than friend Erwin (Hayden Szeto), and you’ve got the next coming-of-age teenage rite of passage movie this generation needs.
We sat down with the films directors, Hailee, Hayden, Haley and Blake to talk about the authenticity of the film, Blake’s lady Supergirl, and more.
