Summer is here! Now that you’ve got all this free time on your hands, we here at ANDPOP are committed to filling your empty calendar with endless, binge-worthy TV shows and movies. ANDPOP’s Lazy Summer series is officially in full swing.
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again — Hilary Duff was our QUEEN growing up.

The original Disney darling first captured our hearts with her EXTREMELY loveable (and relatable) portrayal of Lizzie McGuire. Hilary had a knack for embodying typical teens, allowing female audiences to feel like they were seeing their own lives and experiences play out on screen.

Once her family sitcom wrapped Ms. Duff took Hollywood by storm, starring in a variety of teen and family blockbusters throughout the mid 2000s. Oh, and there was her wildly successful pop music career.

Hilary slowed things down after she got married and had her adorable son  Luca  but luckily for us, she’s back in the spotlight! She currently stars in the hilarious TV series Younger (alongside Sutton Foster) and even made a musical comeback last year.

Since you can NEVER have enough Duff, we’ve rounded up some of her best films from over the years that deserve some TLC.

Here are 10 Hilary Duff movies you should totally re-watch this summer:

The Lizzie McGuire Movie, 2003

If you watch one movie on this list, let it be this ICONIC big screen adaption of perhaps the greatest Disney Channel show of all time.

Cadet Kelly, 2002

This Disney Channel Original Movie was filmed while Lizzie McGuire was still on the air — but Duff brought out a whole other side of herself on as the spunky, sassy and truly unique Kelly.  Look out for other great performances by fellow Disney kid Christy Carlson Romano (aka Ren Stevens and the voice of Kim Possible) and Canadian cutie Shawn Ashmore.

Casper Meets Wendy, 1998

This children’s classic and third instalment of the Casper franchise is absolutely adorable. This was Duff’s first starring role in a film, and we’re SO happy a casting director discovered her on screen brilliance.

The Cheaper By The Dozen Franchise, 2003 & 2005

These hilarious family flicks not only bring the fun, but they’ll hit yah right in the feels. The incredible ensemble cast of kids is led by comedy legend Steve Martin and veteran actress Bonnie Hunt. In the franchise Hilary plays Lorraine — one of the oldest Baker children — who’s known for being fashion, beauty and boy crazy. While it isn’t exactly her most inspiring role, her chemistry with her on screen brothers and sisters in undeniable. Keep an eye out for a debut performance from your favourite werewolf Taylor Lautner in the sequel.

Beauty & The Briefcase, 2010

This ABC Family Original Movie first aired back in April of 2010. A loose adaptation of author Daniella Brodsky’s book Diary Of A Working Girl, Beauty & The Briefcase follows Lane Daniels (Duff) on an undercover assignment to infiltrate the business world in order to find the perfect bachelor — all for a magazine article. If you LOVED How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days, this movie comes highly recommended.

Agent Cody Banks, 2003

We all know Franke Muniz and Hilary dated back in the day — it’s clear from their on screen chemistry, both during his guest appearance on Lizzie McGuire and her role as the love interest in Agent Cody Banks. This fast-paced, junior James Bond action comedy is still as entertaining today as it was when we were kids.

The Perfect Man, 2005

This beautiful, mother-daughter rom com is EXTREMELY underrated. While critics were quick to dismiss the film, we feel it features Hilary at her best. Her character — Holly Hamilton — is extremely guarded, and her fear of opening up had Duff pulling out one of her most honest and strongest emotional performances. A must watch in our humble opinion.

A Cinderella Story, 2004

We challenge you to find a young woman who doesn’t have fond memories of watching this movie. A modern-day spin on the classic fairytale, A Cinderella Story follows Sam — Hilary’s character — and her evolving relationship with an online pen pal, who turns out to be one of the most popular guys in school (played by Chad Michael Murray). Intertwined with her struggles at home under the rule of her “evil” step mom and step-sisters, it unfolds in typical fairytale fashion — with a happy ending.

War, Inc. 2008

This is one of Hilary’s grittiest roles she’s ever tackled. War, Inc. — which also stars Hollywood heavy-hitters John and Joan Cusack, Marisa Tomei, Dan Aykroyd and Ben Kingsley — is a mash up of a political satire and action comedy. Duff plays Yonica Babyyeah, a Central Asian pop star with an addictive personality — think sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. Wanna experience Hilary Duff unlike anything you’ve seen before? Then you better check out this film.

Raise Your Voice, 2004

Raise Your Voice will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride — trust us when we say you should expect to weep MULTIPLE times while watching this movie. The musical drama is amazing — chock full of love and loss — and will leave you inspired to chase your dreams, no matter what life throws your way.
