Now On Netflix: July 2016

Posted on June 24, 2016 by

Guys. It’s almost July.¬†HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN?!

While we officially need not hide from the cold — we’ll now be hiding from seriously hot weather either by the pool or in bed with Netflix and air conditioning. You know, the real Netflix & Chill.

Thanks to July’s new Netflix additions, we’ll get a great head start on hiding away from sunburn, screaming children, and sand in our bathing suits.

Here’s what you’ll find on Netflix this month:

Now You See Me (July 1)

Now that the sequel to this magical movie has hit the big screen, it’s the perfect time to watch (or re-watch) the original. The film follows “The Four Horsemen” — a group comprised of amateur magicians, played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher and Dave Franco — who are brought together to pull off a huge heist. With an ensemble cast that includes acting greats Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine — plus a police-officer-playing Mark Ruffalo — this action-packed thriller is must see.

Scream, Season 2 (July 12)

Get your horror fix this month with brand new episodes of MTV’s creepy, campy Scream reboot.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 2 (July 21)

The last chapter of The Hunger Games frachise will FINALLY drop on Netflix Canada, and we are PUMPED! The dystopian YA novel adaptations became a cultural phenomenon — thanks in part to incredible performances by Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. We’re not sure we’re emotionally prepared to say goodbye to Katniss, Peeta and Gale all over again.

Archer, Season 7 (July 15)

The latest season of one of our favourite adult animated series will be available to watch on the streaming service this month. We can’t wait to take it all in — #Phrasing.

The Social Network (July 1)

If you have yet to watch the film chronicling the (very) humble beginnings of Mark Zuckerberg and his revolutionary social media website, we suggest you do so…NOW! Starring Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake, the Aaron Sorkin scripted and David Fincher directed biographical drama is as beautiful as it is entertaining.

Guardians Of The Galaxy (July 24)

Who knew funny man Chris Pratt would be the PERFECT lead for a Marvel superhero movie?! WE DID.

BoJack Horseman, Season 3 (July 22)

BoJack Horseman is back baby! The completely unique Netflix original features the vocal talents of some of our small screen favourites — including Canadian Will Arnett, Alison Brie and Aaron Paul. While it may look ridiculous, the animated series unpacks some pretty big topics surrounding celebrity culture and fame. A hilarious Hollywood satire — starring a horse. You can’t go wrong.
