R&B Artists

We’re always on the lookout for new young, up and coming talent to fall in love with and fangirl over like it’s our job — actually, it is our job — because acts like Boyz II Men can only satisfy our need for R&B music for so long.

With the worldwide success R&B has found in the form of young acts like The Weeknd, Usher, Miguel’ and many more, we’ve been itching to find equally soulful artists to stalk on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube and basically all across social media. After all, there’s nothing quite like saying “I listened to them before they were cool.”

Yeah, we’re going to be those people — because no shame.

There’s nothing like a solid slow, soulful, sultry jam to serve as the perfect backdrop to working, studying and, okay we’ll say it, making out — which is why we’re proud to say we’ve found some powerful young voices that never fail to give us chills and get us grooving (yes, we know…no one says grooving anymore).

Get ready to fall in love with music all over again with these R&B artists:

Raleigh Ritchie

On top of being a fantastic musician, Jacob Anderson (a.k.a Raleigh Ritchie) is also spectacular actor — you may recognize him from HBO’s Game Of Thrones. Make sure to check out his debut album (out this Fri, February 26th), “You’re a Man Now, Boy.”

FKA Twigs

Tahliah Debrett Barnett, a.k.a FKA Twigs, has been making her mark on music scene for a couple of years with a her first 2 EPs (EP1 and Ep2), her debut album LP1 (released back in 2014) and her most recent EP, M3LL155X, which dropped in August of 2015. Twigs boasts a unique style and sound that separates herself from others in the industry.

Kehlani Parrish’s debut album You Should Be Here has us wanting to be with her all day everyday. With banging tracks like “The Way” and “Down For You,” it’s fair to say that this Grammy nominated singer/songwriter is here to stay.

Jon Bellion

After years of writing some of the biggest hits (he wrote the “Monster” chorus for Eminem and Rihanna), Bellion has released four mixtapes — and we can’t get enough.

Tory Lanez

Singer/songwriter Daystar Peterson, a.k.a Tory Lanez, blends rap and r&b into serious hits. If you haven’t heard of this Canadian before, you’ll never forget his name after listening to his music.

BJ The Chicago Kid

Bryan James Sledge, a.k.a BJ The Chicago Kid, first came to our attention when he collaborated with Kehlani for the track “Down For You.” BJ’s debut album In My Mind dropped this past Friday and we HIGHLY recommend it. Seriously, killer track after killer track — no exaggeration.

Alessia Cara

The Brampton native blew up last year with her mega-hit “Here,” and her debut album Know It All is nothing short of amazing. To be honest you all know how much we here at ANDPOP love Alessia so we will just leave you to get lost in her unique, raspy sound.

The Internet

This soul band consisting of Syd the Kyd, Matt Martians, Jameel Bruner, Patrick Paige, Christopher A. Smith, and Steve Lacy have been together since 2011 and have since  released an EP and three albums. Their most recent album, Ego Death, was also nominated for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2016 Grammy Awards.

Jhené Aiko

If you remember R&B group B2K, you’ve been listening to Jhené Aiko longer than you think. Aiko, whose racked up millions of streams on Spotify, has a distinct and gentle voice that makes it impossible to  not fall in love with her.

Bryson Tiller

Bryson Tiller got early approval from Drake and Timabland so it’s no surprise that we love this “trap soul” artist, as he calls himself. We highly recommend you listen to his album Trapsoul for maximum jamming.

Anderson .Paak

Think R&B with disco and retro soul influences. Anderson Paak makes us want to dance in our seats and sing a long — and disturb all those sitting next to us.

Frank Ocean

One must never forget — we’re forever waiting for new music from Frank. It’s been FOUR YEARS!
