Is it 2016 already?! Just a few days ago we were comfortably wasting away the last moments of 2015 — on the couch, in our festive onesies, bingeing our two favourite things: leftover Christmas cookies and Netflix.
But the holiday season has come to a close, and it’s time for us to put our New Year’s Resolutions into practice — stop procrastinating, be more productive, spend more time outside…
PFFT. As if! #NewYearSameUs
Here’s what you’ll find on Netflix this month:
True Story (January 1)
This drama stars pals Jonah Hill and James Franco. The True Story (nailed the title) chronicles the real relationship between disgraced New York Times journalist Michael Finkel (Hill) and murderer Christian Longo (Franco), who steals Finkel’s identity upon his arrest. A big departure from their usual Judd Apatow buddy comedies, the film received lacklustre reviews from fans and critics alike — but the real life events that inspire and drive the plot are intriguing enough to hold your attention and keep viewers guessing.
Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments (January 13)
Based on one of our favourite fantasy YA series — The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare — and the film starring Lily Collins, Jamie Campbell Bower and Kevin Zegers, comes the ABC Family TV show, Shadowhunters. Dark, action-packed with a badass female lead, it includes everything you’ve come to expect from the series as a whole — including swoon-worthy actors taking on the role of Jace. Exhibt A, Dominic Sherwood.
Chelsea Does (January 23)
We’re stoked to have Chelsea Handler back in our lives. Since walking away from her late night television gig, Chelsea Lately on E! — we’re REALLY missing that female presence in the boys’ club that is late night TV — the sassy and crass comedienne has kept busy filming a new, four-part documentary series with Netflix. Chelsea Does follows Handler on her journey to explore the topics that fascinate her the most — including marriage, drugs and racism. Watch the hilarious trailor here!
Inside Out (January 26)
One of our Top 10 Movies of 2015, Disney Pixar has outdone themselves once again with this sure-to-be animated classic.
Suits — Season 4 (January 28)
Mike and Harvey are back and better than ever! Nothing like bingeing on a show featuring sexy, #SuitedUp businessmen and their cutthroat 9 to 5.
