Justin Bieber broke the Internet yesterday when he announced a surprise acoustic show at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall. Dubbed “An Evening With Justin Bieber,” the intimate concert aims to celebrate his latest release, Purpose. The best part? Ticket sale proceeds are going to his hometown Stratford and their House of Blessing, a facility dedicated to assisting those in need within the community.
With all the buzz surrounding the event, we here at ANDPOP asked ourselves “who else would we love to see perform acoustically?” Well, basically everyone… but we narrowed it down.
Check out our list of dream acoustic acts below:
This is our throwback pick. After all, Miss Swift started out as country singer/songwriter before she took the pop music world by storm. We all know vintage Taylor tracks were made for acoustic performances — plus, we’d love to hear stripped down versions of her hits from 1989. NEED.
Niall on guitar with Louis, accompanied by Harry and Liam enveloping the crowd with their smooth singing — we can just see it now. Whether in unison or showing off their solo skills, these boys have developed the vocal chops to conquer any performance, from a stadium setting to an exclusive VIP event.
Fact: Demi Lovato is one of the most underappreciated vocal powerhouses in pop music today. Fact: Demi’s at her best when performing over subtle, simple backing tracks that highlight her incredible raw talent. Could you imagine witnessing ballads like “Stone Cold” and “Skyscraper” performed acoustically without weeping?! No, no you can’t.
The delicate vocal stylings of one Troye Sivan were MADE to be showcased in an intimate setting. Couple that with his brilliant banter and you’ve got a recipe for a gig we wish would never end.
These girls know how to harmonize (come on, it’s in their name people). If we’re being honest, one can only describe what happens when these five voices come together as pure magic. While we love their danceable #bangers, in order to truly appreciate their sound you’ve got to give the ladies a blank canvas.
Hello, it’s ANDPOP; we were wondering if after all these years ADELE WOULD PUT ON AN ACOUSTIC SHOW. Good lord woman, we’ve been waiting long enough for 25, and even longer for what could very well be the most beautiful concert event of all time!
There’s something really special about stripping down a hip-hop beat to a few chords strummed on an acoustic guitar. Ed Sheeran pioneered the technique for our generation with his sexy rap and R&B covers, and we’re hoping The Weeknd will follow suit. Toronto’s very own Abel Tesfaye – better known as The Weeknd – has the perfect mid-tempo, emotional catalogue perfect for this kind of reinvention.
