5 Years & Years Covers That Left Us Speechless

Years and Years

The ANDPOP squad loves a good cover — and has mad love for Years & Years. Getting where you’re going with this?

Years & Years have been known for their upbeat, synth sound — oh, and their lead singer Olly Alexander’s sweet voice. Along with Olly’s soothing voice, band mates Emre Turkmen and Mikey Goldsworthy providing the beat that’s needed for a great, catchy tune. Their debut album Communion  — which is the best album we’ve heard all year — peaked at number 8 on the Canadian charts. That’s not too shabby for a group that just came out onto the North American scene earlier this year.

While we can re-listen to “Ties” on repeat, we will never say no to a cover of some of our favourite songs from other artists. As Years & Years continue to release covers, we’ll continue to love them forever. We brought you our fave Fifth Harmony covers, and now it’s time to give our boys from across the pond some attention.

Here are 5 Years and Years covers that we can’t stop listening too:

“Earned It” By The Weeknd

Boy, you earned it.

“Breathe” By Sean Paul

This sounds so different than the original that we forgot it was a Sean Paul song.

“Love Me Harder” By Ariana Grande & The Weeknd

His voice, I can’t. I just can’t.

“Don’t Save Me” By Haim

Okay, we’d be lying if we said we didn’t want a Years & Years and Haim collaboration after this cover.

“Romeo” By Basement Jaxx

Sounds nothing like the original, and we thank Years & Years everyday for that.
