It may not seem like it on the surface, but it actually takes a lot of work to produce an ANDPOP interview. Before we can even hit record on our cameras, our team has to co-ordinate with publicists, research the artist, check out your tweets (what do the fans want to know?!), and make sure we have all the right equipment.
Another important aspect of any shoot is the location. We’re always looking to bring the artist beyond the concrete walls of their green room and to a cool place we think they would enjoy. Sometimes that means inviting them to our rooftop patio (where we have an amazing view of downtown Toronto), challenging them to arcade games or racing go-karts on the waterfront.
For our interview with 21-year-old British singer George Ezra, we wanted to show him a side to Toronto he hasn’t seen before. So we sent our host Simon Mohos and editor Portia Baladad to pick up a car2go smart car and within minutes, they were off location scouting.
