For Jack Antonoff, there’s nowhere to go but up.
The New Jersey-bred musician had been quietly building his music cred for years, having finally broken into the mainstream with his band fun. and their anthemic 2011 hit, “We Are Young.”
These days, when he’s not touring with fun. or hanging out with his equally cool girlfriend, Girls creator and star Lena Dunham, Jack has busied himself with other projects. Under the name Bleachers, he has written catchy indie-pop tracks such as “Rollercoaster” and “I Wanna Get Better” for the act’s first album, Strange Desire. More notably, Jack has also helped a burgeoning pop music act named Taylor Swift (you may have heard of her) write three songs for her latest album, 1989.
Knowing that such a talent would be in town, ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos couldn’t help but share the love when it came to our interview with Jack Antonoff of Bleachers. That’s why we recruited one lucky fun to help us interview the fun. guitarist when he was in Toronto last summer.
While flipping through Jack’s Instagram photos, the mastermind behind Bleachers talks about playing Lollapalooza in the rain, the first Bleachers show and taking weird selfies with billboards featuring his face. He then answers fangirl Dana’s burning question.
What was the question? What did he say? You’ll have to watch to find out!
