Mr. Belding Isn’t Going To Watch Lifetime’s ‘Saved By The Bell’ Movie

Posted on August 27, 2014 by

When it comes to Lifetime’s Saved By The Bell movie, don’t expect Dennis Haskins among those that will be watching.

The film, called The Unauthorized ‘Saved By The Bell’ Story, will be a behind-the-scenes look of the show and is loosely based on Dustin Diamond’s (who played Screech) book Behind The Bell, which he has previously admitted was ghostwritten and fabricated.

Now in an interview with TMZ, Haskins, who played Mr. Belding in the original Saved By The Bell series, has said that he has no interest to watch the Lifetime film because he feels the memoir was too exaggerated.

“There just wasn’t any craziness,” he said. “It was like, yeah, people dated each other. Okay, so what?”

Feeling that the film’s purpose was to stir up drama and make some money, Haskins also added that he’s not watching the movie because he’s already experienced life on the Saved By The Bell set.

“I was there. I don’t need to watch it. I know what happened and what didn’t happen.”

But while that may be true, wouldn’t he want to join us in hate-watching the whole program…for nostalgia’s sake?

The Unauthorized Saved By The Bell Story premieres on Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
