In our eyes, Shailene Woodley may still be a teenager, having starred in several young adult films like The Spectacular Now, Divergent and The Fault In Our Stars in the past two years.
But while the 22-year-old actress is playing a 17-year-old in her new film White Bird in a Blizzard, this role seems more mature for Woodley as she portrays a teen coming into her sexuality.
But while the beginning of the trailer is filled with steamy scenes, things quickly turn dark. As life throws a curveball at out protagonist, we find out that her mother (Eva Green) has mysteriously disappeared.
Based on the book by Laura Kasischke, this film directed by Gregg Araki was met with mixed reviews at Sundance, but certainly without causing a stir (partly because Woodley appears full-frontal in the movie). But by the looks of this new preview, we can also expect to see some very trippy scenes full imagery as Woodley stands alone in a wintery background dressed all in white.
White Bird in a Blizzard will get a limited theatrical release in October after its VOD debut on Sept. 25.
