It’s been two years since Daniel Radcliffe said his goodbyes to Harry Potter, and since then he’s become a poet (Kill Your Darlings), an ambitious businessman (Broadway’s How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying) and even a young Jon Hamm (TV’s A Young Doctor’s Notebook). But even with the eclectic roles he’s played, who could’ve imagined that the 25-year-old actor would one day play a romantic lead?
In his upcoming film The F Word (What If if you’re American), Radcliffe proves himself as a worthy heartthrob. In it, Radcliffe plays Wallace, a heartbroken med school dropout who ends up falling for a girl who already has a boyfriend. The film is even set in Toronto (!!), so it literally is the story of our lives. (Begins to play the tiny violin.)
During a recent trip back to Toronto for the film’s second Toronto premiere (it premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival), Daniel Radcliffe tells ANDPOP’s Simon Mohos about successfully climbing out of the “friend zone,” making out with his co-stars and getting naked on screen. He even busts out a verse of Eminem’s “Desperation” because we wanted to imagine him rap battling Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt.
