As if we weren’t already considerably excited for the upcoming remake of Disney’s The Jungle Book , The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Bill Murray has been snagged to play Baloo in the film.
The film follows the classic story of Mowgli ( Neel Sethi) , a young boy who grows up in the jungle, and boasts an epic star-studded cast. The Jungle Book, directed by Jon Favreau, will also star Ben Kingsley, Lupita Nyong’o, Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Idris Elba (Luther), Scarlett Johanson, and Christopher Walken. Justin Marks will write the film.
So, not only does this film combine live-action and animation, but it features Scarlett Johanson as a snake and Bill Murray as a fun loving bear. Now, for the mental image of Bill Murray singing “The Bare Neccessities.” Yep, we are totally game for this film.
The Jungle Book will hit the big screen Oct. 9, 2015. A different revamp of the film directed by Andy Serkis for Warner Brothers will later be released a year later on Oct. 21, 2016.
