“Daniel Radcliffe starring in a rom-com.”
That’s all we really needed to know about the Harry Potter alum’s latest film, The F Word.
But if that doesn’t entice you, don’t worry because there’s so many other reasons why you should be itching to watch it.
Known as What If in the U.S., the film follows heartbroken medical school dropout Wallace (Radcliffe) as he strikes up a close friendship with Chantry (Ruby Sparks’ Zoe Kazan), the cousin of his old college roommate, Allan (Girls‘ Adam Driver). It’s obvious to everyone that the two are perfect for each other but they’re kept apart thanks to Chantry’s live-in boyfriend.
The film premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival to rave reviews, and it currently holds a 86 per cent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
In summary: it’s a smart, critically successful rom-com that features three of young Hollywood’s best actors and is set in our hometown of Toronto! Yes, you read that right: set in Toronto, not Toronto posing as New York City/Chicago/whatever big North American metropolis you have in mind. YAY!
In this exclusive clip, Wallace and Allan talk about the many ways Wallace can try to get out of the “friend zone.” Considering none of their options sound any good, what will Wallace do?!! AH!
We guess we won’t find out until The F Word opens across Canada on August 22, 2014. Watch the full trailer HERE.
