Continuing his spree of singing about heartbreak, Sam Smith has announced his next single off his multi-platinum selling album, ‘In The Lonely Hour.’
Called ‘I’m Not The Only One,’ Smith croons about falling in love with someone who appears to have taken advantage of him. And as a result, he is the one left hurt as his unrequited love doesn’t share the same feelings back.
The song goes well with the theme of the 22-year-old singer’s album, as Smith as previously stated that his songs are about someone who didn’t reciprocate his feelings.
“In the Lonely Hour is about a guy that I fell in love with last year, and he didn’t love me back. I think I’m over it now, but I was in a very dark place. I kept feeling lonely in the fact that I hadn’t felt love before. I’ve felt the bad things. And what’s a more powerful emotion: pain or happiness?”
We’re glad Smith is channeling that heartbreak into hit singles! After all, it was also announced today that he will also be headlining this year’s iTunes Festival!
