Top Tweets of the Week: The Cast of “Glee” Remembers Cory Monteith And More

Cory Monteith

With countless celebrities sharing their thoughts in 140 characters or less, it’s almost impossible to keep up with what’s going on with everyone — until now. Every Friday, ANDPOP’s Gabriella Zicarelli will be rounding up the best celebrity tweets to help you stay in the loop. This week, the cast of Glee share their memories of Cory Monteith and Brooks Wheelan announces his departure from Saturday Night Live.

Remembering Cory

It’s almost hard to believe it, but this past Sunday marked the one year anniversary of Cory Monteith’s death. While Glee fans took the day to remember their idol, it was the tweets from the late actors fellow castmates that had us grabbing tissue. From girlfriend Lea Michele’s touching photo to Matthew Morrison’s “birthday” message, the tears were in full effect.

The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, also remembered Cory with this simple message:

Such touching tributes for a man who touched so many lives. He is greatly missed.

Keep it Clean, Shelton!

There’s no denying country singer Blake Shelton provides us some of  Twitter’s best moments with his sass and cheekiness. This week, he brought out his Twitter sassiness at the expense of selfies. The tweet was a bit a thinker at first, but once I figured out what exactly he was talking about, you better believe it left me laughing while shaking my head.

*Sigh.* Oh, Blake…

Mandel is Always Judging

When taking on a hosting gig, I guess you’re bound to get those few people who expect to get a strong opinion after showing off their talents even after the cameras stop rolling. Well looks like since taking a chair on America’s Got Talent, Howie Mandel has been experiencing just that. He might may have just found the next child opera star after sharing this stunning performance on Instagram.

Just stunning. I give him a 10 for that amazing falsetto.

Brooks Wheelan’s  SNL Exit

After the end of every Saturday Night Live season, we nervously wait to see which of our favourite cast members will be returning next year. It’s kind of like the Game of Thrones of sketch TV; you become way to attached to a favourite character only to watch them leave and never return — minus all the blood, of course. Lo and behold, cast member Brooks Wheelan was the first to be fired from the show and responded the only way one could.

We’ll miss you, Brooks.

Happy Birthday, Theo!

Get ready to “aw” because it was little Theo Horan’s first birthday on Wednesday! And being the proud uncle that he is, One Direction’s Niall Horan took to Twitter to share his birthday wishes for his mini-me nephew along with an adorable throwback photo.

Then he shared this photo of Theo’s hot new wheels.

Gee, wonder who got him that… Hmm…

Debra DiGiovanni Just Gets It

When it comes to people on Twitter understanding exactly how we feel, comedian Debra DiGiovanni is usually at the top of that list. I especially feel connected to the Canadian comedian after reading this empowering speech about her love of coffee.

Jamming To Dashboard Confessional

There’s no better way to start your day than with hearing your favourite song on the radio and on full blast. And because Anna Kendrick is everyone’s spirit animal, her tweet about rocking out to Dashboard Confessional can speaks to us.

Yes, Anna we completely understand this and also have the sudden urge to belt out “Vindicated.”

Adrian Grenier’s #TBT

If you’re like me, you’re still kind of reeling from the whole Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling baby news a little lot! But it’s okay because as we work out our feelings with spoonfuls of Ben and Jerry’s, we can always look at old photos of Ryan, like this #TBT pic from Adrian Grenier! Remember when the world made sense and we could still go on hoping that he and Rachael would someday get back together?

Thank you, Adrian, and extra points for the clever “Hey girl” addition.
