It has been confirmed that Steven Spielberg’s live-action version of Roald Dahl’s The BFG is slated to hit theatres internationally and in the UK on July 22, 2016, according to DigitalSpy. That’s right, yet another movie to put on our long list of anticipated book to film adaptations.
“We at DreamWorks Studios hope our film will add to Roald Dahl’s prolific legacy of entertainment,” Spielberg told DigitalSpy about the project that was imagined by Dahl’s son.
Melissa Mathison, the screenwriter of ET, has penned the script for the movie that Spielberg will direct for DreamWorks.
We cannot contain our excitement for this adaptation of a modern childhood classic. This is not the first of Dahl’s books to become films, as his books Matilda, The Witches, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and James and the Giant Peach have all been translated onto the screen.
Did we mention it will be live action? The animation will be incredible, and we cannot wait for some casting news about this exciting project.
