YouTuber Shane Dawson Makes Movie For ‘The Chair’ Competition

Laugh-out-loud YouTuber  Shane Dawson has recently unveiled the trailer for his upcoming film Not Cool, and it’s just as hilarious and over the top as one would expect from him.

EW  reports that Dawson has made Not Cool as part of Starz’s competition series The Chair. The contest provides two film makers with the same budget ($900,000) and same script to make two entirely different projects. Dawson has his work cut out for him.

Dawson has been on YouTube for as long as we can remember, which is why we could not be more excited to see him on our big screens in Not Cool,  a film that tells the story of a group of college students when they come back home for Thanksgiving.

Not Cool is based on Dan Schoffer’s screenplay titled How Soon is Now. Dawson told EW that his film’s title is inspired by what he and his friends experienced when they left high school. “[It’s] about how important ‘being cool’ is when you’re in high school and the realization you have after you graduate that maybe it doesn’t matter that much anymore,” he said.

Not Cool will be going up against Hollidaysburg, the project by Anna Martemucci. Both films will air in theaters and on Starz. The winner will be determined by ticket sales and digital voting, and will take home a prize of $250,000.

We wish Dawson the very best of luck! We could not be more excited and proud to see more YouTube personalities take on huge projects.
