Alexander Ek was born with an ordinary name. But clearly a man who goes by the beat of his own drum, he thrived to stand out…with a new name.
According to The Local, the 25-year-old Swede started to change his name since he was 18. Since then, his name has changed six times and he has added a selection of names each time.
At the moment, he has 63 names. And yes, what he goes by is as overwhelming and ridiculous as you’d think:
Kim-Jong Sexy Glorious Beast Divine Dick Father Lovely Iron Man Even Unique Poh Un Winn Charlie Ghora Khaos Mehan Hansa Kimmy Humbero Uno Master Over Dance Shake Bouti Bepop Rocksteady Shredder Kung Ulf Road House Gilgamesh Flap Guy Theo Arse Hole Im Yoda Funky Boy Slam Duck Chuck Jorma Jukka Pekka Ryan Super Air Ooy Rusell Salvador Alfons Molgan Akta Papa Long Nameh Ek.
Don’t believe me? Just check out the official papers.
At one point, Kim-Jong Sexy Glorious Beast – Papa Long Nameh, as he prefers to be called – was called Usama-Bin Ek. As he notes in an interview with Nyheter 24, “My parents were a little confused the first time a letter came addressed to Usama-Bin Ek instead of Alexander.”
Ek was also one of 44 Swedes who changed their name last year in an attempt to live in Berlin for free for a year, but lost. He now doesn’t count Klaus-Heidi Bratwursten among his long list of names.
But while changing your name so often can get confusing, the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) has no official limit on how many names a person can have. However, it’ll cost you $150 each time you make a change.
After all for Ek, this seems like a cheap and fun way to remain infamous.
The only downside seems to be, “I don’t always get my mail and sometimes the electricity bill is late, but that’s part of the charm.”
