There’s always something exciting about watching history being made, and we can’t help but feel that same kind of excitement when it comes to the Netflix original series, Orange is the New Black.
Based on writer Piper Kerman’s memoir, the show follows Piper Chapman, a upper-middle class New Yorker whose life gets turned upside down after her criminal past sends her to prison for a year.
OITNB has become a quick favourite for culture vultures everywhere thanks to the show’s dark humour, strong writing (courtesy of Weeds‘ Jengi Kohan), it’s largely female cast, and not to mention, the cast’s diversity. There is really no other show like it, and it’s probably one of the best arguments for more female-driven television.
ANDPOP recently sat down with Orange is the New Black‘s Taylor Schilling (Piper) and Uzo Aduba (Suzanne/”Crazy Eyes”). Together, they spill on what it was like to work with Hollywood legend Jodie Foster, that first episode and which pop star they would love to have visit the Litchfield prison set.
Seasons 1 and 2 of Orange is the New Black are currently streaming on Netflix.
