If you’ve finally recovered from the cry-fest that was The Fault in Our Stars, prepare to get the waterworks going again.
Author John Green announced last night on his Facebook page that Canadian actress/director Sarah Polley will be writing the script and directing the film adaptation for his novel Looking For Alaska.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will be produced by Mark Waters and Jessica Tuchinsky. Paramount, who is behind the movie, picked up the book rights in 2005 and had a script ready to go. But as studios decided to focus on other projects, production for the film languished. However, due to the recent success of The Fault in Our Stars, there is now a renewed interest in the film.
Looking For Alaska is based on John Green’s own school experiences. It follows a boy named Miles, who is starting at a boarding school where he meets the beautiful yet troubled Alaska Young. Along with the other boys at the school, he becomes fascinated with her.
We are totally excited for the film because this film adaptation is in good hands. Polley was nominated for an Oscar in 2008 for her film Away From Her. As well, her films Stories We Tell and Take This Waltz have both earned her praise among critics and audiences.
So in other words, we are SO ready for this film. TAKE OUR MONEY SARAH POLLEY AND JOHN GREEN!!
