It’s that merry time of year again. No, we’re not talking about Christmas (come on, guys. It’s June). We’re talking about VIDCON!
Thanks to the wonderful minds of brother Hank and John Green a.k.a. the Vlogbrothers, VidCon is where fans get to meet, see and listen to their favourite creators in-person and at a convention made for them. There are performances, meet and greets and even panels where viewers and YouTubers alike can talk about content creation, women on YouTube, and more!
If you’re reading this and thinking, “Damn, I wish I was there,” you’re not alone. We, too, shed tears whenever we see #FTFO (freaking the fuck out) tweets because someone saw Jacksgap’s Jack Harries breath air in-person.
So, if you’re stuck at home like us while all of our favourite YouTubers get to meet and frolic around Los Angeles together, here are seven emotions you’re probably experiencing right now.
As much as we’re happy for all of our Internet friends who get to go, we can’t help but hate their guts even just a wee bit when the festivities begin.
FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)
At some point during the weekend, you’re probably feeling sad/scared that you just missed out on an epic show. It’s like missing out on a surprise Justin Bieber (or insert your fav artist here) concert because you never know which of his celebrity friends will show up.
It’s okay that you can’t be at the biggest/baddest YouTube event of the year. Just drown your sorrows in some food, like ice cream. My favourite: Rainbow sherbet or simple double chocolate ice-cream.
You’re So Happy That Your Heart Feels Like It’s Going To Burst
This happens when the weekend is halfway over and you decide now is a good time to creep JC Caylen’s Instagram. There you see that he’s met Amazing Phil and your insides combust because you know what could only come out of this epic meet up.
Now that you know your fav YouTubers have met, you can’t help but wonder, HOW MUCH LONGER FOR A VIDEO? That’s when you start tweeting at them sternly/passionately asking, almost on the verge of demanding: DO A COLLAB VIDEO? PLEASE?! They ignore you and you get antsy wondering whether or not that fateful meet-up will result in the best collab ever.
You can’t help but feel all fuzzy inside whenever you check your #VidCon tracked tag on Tumblr. There are just so many cute selfies of all your fav creators posing with each other or with fans. They’re just so adorable that you can’t help but let out an “Awwwww!!!!”
The Final Emotion…
After one fabulous weekend passes by you like a bullet train headed for paradise, you begin to regret not spending all your hard-earned cash on a flight out to Los Angeles to meet some great creators.
You could just watch all the YouTube videos in one night and pretend you were there…
Just remember, there’s always next year! (I’ve been saying this for four years).
