When we asked for Zack and Kelly to return to our screens, we did’t think it would be like this. Lifetime is slated to air The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story, a movie chronicling the backstage drama of the sitcom, DailyNews reports.
This television film will be substantially different from Behind the Bell, the 2009 novel written by former cast member Dustin Diamond that featured allegations of the casts drug use and hook ups. The upcoming film promises new interviews conducted for specifically the film, Buzzfeed reports.
Even though its hard to not be skeptic about this film, it helps to know that Robin Lippin, the Saved by the Bell casting director, was the one to cast the six actors slated to act as the former child stars of the show.
Degrassi alum Dylan Everett will star in the film as Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Bayside’s menacing Zack Morris. He will be joined by Sam Kindseth who will portray Dustin Diamond (geeky Screech), and Julian Works who will take on the role of Mario Lopez (joack A.C. Slater.)
The show’s female cast will include Tiera Skovbye as Elizabeth Berkley (brainiac Jessie Spanno,) Alyssa Lynch as Tiffani-Amber Thiessen (always peppy Kelly Kapowski), and finally Taylor Russell McKenzie will depict Lark Voorhies (the always fabulously dressed Lisa Turtle).
We don’t even know how to feel right now. We’ll just leave you with this.
