When it comes to Justin Bieber, Austin Mahone is tired of the comparisons.
“I can kind of see where they’re coming from, but at the same time, it’s kind of obnoxious. They see a young kid who sings and dances and … they’re like, ‘Oh another Justin Bieber,’” he said recently. “Like, you don’t even know. You don’t know me. You don’t know my music. You’re just making assumptions.”
Like Bieber, Mahone also got his start on YouTube and since reached massive fan following for his catchy pop tunes and killer dance moves. But while there may be some similarities between him and the Canadian pop star, Mahone wants people to listen to his music first before making their comparisons.
“I may not be the best dancer or the best performer right now, but I’m always getting better,” he said. “Next year I’ll be even better than I am now. And the year after that, I’ll just keep getting better.”
Personally, we already think he’s doing very well for himself!
So well, that he was invited to sing the National Anthem during Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and the Miami Heat in Texas. Take a look/listen yourselves! When it comes to his talents, he’s really quite different from the Biebs.
