LeVar Burton Takes Reading Rainbow Too Literally

LeVar Burton for Funny or Die

If there’s one thing Reading Rainbow taught us, it’s that “we can do anything” if we pick up a book.

Oftentimes when people say we can achieve anything, they mean that we can become whatever we want if we put our minds to it. But in the case of LeVar Burton, the host and executive producer of Reading Rainbow, “doing anything” literally means picking up a book and uhm, destroying the world.

The video, produced by the Funny Or Die team,  starts off with Burton reaching for a butterfly. Quickly discovering that his time reading books has actually given him superpowers, he unleashes his hidden gifts for evil and as a result, confuses the crap out of a couple of kids.

To be fair though, Burton deserves all the credit and power in the world. After starting a Kickstarter campaign to get funding for an updated version of Reading Rainbow, the results were overwhelmingly positive as he received over $3 million, well over his $1 million goal.

Congrats, LeVar!
