Ed Sheeran Covers Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’

British singers like to stick together. And when it comes to promoting up-and-comers, Ed Sheeran is all about it.

Stopping by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, Sheeran did a gorgeous cover of Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me’. Both hits are currently battling out on the UK’s ITunes chart with Sheeran’s ‘Sing’ sitting at the top with Smith’s love ballad sitting right below in second place.

But rather than fuelling a competition between the two, Sheeran did what any classy singer would and talked favourably about Smith’s music.

“It is my favourite song of the last year,” Sheeran told host Annie Mac, explaining why he chose to cover Smith’s ballad. “I think it’s an instant classic. It’s gonna be around for a long time. [Sam Smith] is gonna be around for a long time, as well.”

So sweet, just like his performance. I REALLY hope the two do a collaboration in the future.
