Hedley and Drake Lead MuchMusic Video Awards Nominations

It’s east coast versus west coast as Toronto rapper Drake has tied Vancouver-based rock band Hedley for the most nominations with six a piece at this year’s MuchMusic Video Awards.

Drake has been nominated for Video of the Year, Director of the Year (shared with “Worst Behaviour” director X), Hip Hop Video of the Year, International Video of the Year by a Canadian, Your Fave Artist/Group and Your Fave Video.

Hedley has been nominated for Video of the Year, Post-Production of the Year, Director of the Year (John JP Poliquin for “Anything”), Pop Video of the Year, Your Fave Artist/Group, and Your Fave Video.

Following Hedley and Drake in nominations are Vancouver hip hop artist SonReal (five noms), Montreal indie rockers Arcade Fire and R&B artist The Weeknd (four a piece).

Australian boy band 5 Seconds of Summer, producer Pharrell, July Talk, Keys N Krates, MAGIC! and Thugli also scored their first MMVA nominations. See the full list of nominees on MuchMusic.com.

Hosted by Keeping Up With The Kardashian stars Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the 25th MMVAs will air live on June 15 with performances by Lorde and Imagine Dragons.
